PRINT COMPETITION AT FEN DITTON GALLERY

PRINT COMPETITION AT FEN DITTON GALLERY

A competition always has the blood racing and it is true in the Art world as at the St Leger. Be it rugby tennis or apparently creative endeavour, there are always rivals out there to keep an eye on and new techniques to look out for to keep you at the top of your game.

Winner - Amber Jesson

The Fen Ditton Gallery have pulled off an extraordinary feat of artistic magic. Organised a hugely popular countrywide competition for printmakers and presented the prize to a. young and very talented art student for the complex picture you see above. The Gallery was packed with hopefuls from out of town for the prize winners’ announcement. Remarkable to see the space packed out , not with Cambridge art lovers and keen collectors but the very quirky fun looking band of artists from far and wide all keen to share techniques and revel in the sight of top prints - honoured in high style.

Jim Butler Heuston Bridge

Experts abounded including the celebrity master of prints Kip Gresham, but it was the atmosphere of contagious enthusiasm that really counted for so much. It represented just how far the fabulous Fen Ditton curators have come in their zeal to re-presented art for Cambridge and beyond, to promote it as a force for life and energy . And for all ages. The Young People’s Collectors group flourishes there under Hannah’s skilful guidance, whilst the beauty of the place is preserved for all comers.

View some of the exhibits. all as prints so well priced and see just what a remarkable feat this has been. On until the end of the month
