HARRIET MACKENZIE
The combined sounds of these two award-winning musicians will ring out around the ancient walls of Trinity College chapel on Friday evening 7th November. It all happens just as the nights are getting seriously dark and cultural events like this spontaneous concert are perfect for a bright splash of music .Both musicians promise a dazzling level of performance . And if you read below, you can learn why this show, provided by Music in Action is more than a personal delight on a wintry night, but a contribution to their delightful mission to bring music to children and older people.
Children part of the Music in Action project
Music in Action is an extraordinary organisation. Their top level concerts support work with communities. Free tickets for those who can’t afford them, allows a wide-ranging audience to attend concerts. But it’s their work with youth that has made their reputation – they finance bursaries for no fewer than 96 children in four different schools. - Head teachers are thrilled to observe the progress many under privileged students make when given music lessons. This way Music in Action brings cultural experiences to communities who could well be left on the outside of cultural life.
The concert on 7th November will feature the music of Xuefei Yang a much lauded guitar player who had increasingly appeared at international festivals, and Harriet Mackenzie a violinist of great style and skill. Tickets to this glamorous event literally go straight towards the impressive outreach work of Music in Action who now have extended their reach to care homes where music can make a remarkable difference to the quality of life of older people.
