Remarkable mastery of their craft

Pottery appears to be everywhere these days. But this couple of artists work in an altogether different mode. They have re-introduced the coil – no wheel or throwing – directly from the breathtaking range of indigenous South American Pueblo Indian craftsmen. It dates back thousands of years and demands infinite patience and skill – in the creation of the pot and moreso in its intricate hand painting. Hours of meticulous work pours into their finished splendour

So far from the Pueblos of Peru, this ancient art flourishes here in East Anglia with husband-and-wife team Ant and Di Edmunds. ‘Pattern and form and their interplay are at the heart of what we strive for, that is what we discuss together. ’ explains Ant in a feature for the Ceramist magazine. A day of pottery-making in their studio requires application dedication every bit as meticulous as the original practitioners now still refining their art so many miles away.

No wonder these magnificent pots areas highly regarded. They are a marvel to view. The team work a 12-hour day- Ant with the creation of the pots , Did with decoration. - and the cooking “ She is a brilliant cook’ smiles Ant.” We have often been to concerts in Cambridge but this is our first appearance as artist”
